Police Arrest Owo Bank Robbery Suspects
The Police have arrested five armed robbers suspected to be part of the gang that robbed four commercial banks in Owo on March 26.
Addressing reporters in Akure, the Ondo State capital, the State Police Commissioner, Isaac Eke, said the suspects were part of criminals arrested in the last two weeks.
Suspected cultists, armed robbers, kidnappers and sea pirates were among persons paraded by the police.
At the session with reporters held at the state Police Command Headquarters in Akure, Mr Eke said 76 suspected cultists, five suspected armed robbers among the gang that robbed four commercial banks in Owo and seven suspected sea pirates that have been terrorising the residents of the riverine areas of the state.
Weapons recovered from the suspects include; 11 Improvised Explosive Devices(IED), 61 arms, over 12,000 rounds of ammunition, and 143 magazines.
Other items also recovered from them were; a cash of over nine million Naira, two video cameras, one plasma television, four laptop computers, police helmets and a table telephone.

One of the commercial banks was said to have been set ablaze, after the robbers detonated an explosive to gain access into the building.
